  1. Review - ICQ Lite

    Build 1253 (Jul 2, 2003)

The program itself is small. But it used up my bandwidth to get the AD. This program is not recommended.

  2. Review - GuildFTPd

    0.999.8 (May 5, 2003)

GuildFTPd is a very good program. I had used it in very early version. It uses little system resource (CPU and RAM). It is stable and powerful. The most important reason to use is it is free. But the function is the same as the comercial one.

  3. Review - Fedora Linux

    9.0 (Apr 15, 2003)

I had been used Red Hat Linux for quite a long time. But I just upgrade my RH to version 9. However, I discover that there is no reasons to upgrade or install this version. First, most of the software it provided is almost the same with version 8.0. The most disadvantage is Red Hat Linux 9 cannot play mp3. I don't know why Red Hat use such reason(Due to the license reason) to said remove the playback decoder from Red Hat Linux 9. I don't LIKE it.

  4. Review - Winamp Full

    2.90 (Apr 3, 2003)

Winamp 2.90 is a really good version of Winamp. It does contain most of the valuable function from WINAMP3. However, the video placyback makes me disappointed. I can only open the video file in English filename. The video files that in Chinese, Korean, Japanese filename cannot be open and play by Winamp 2.90. I hope Nullsoft can solve this problem. Because Winamp is an international famous media player.

  5. Review - foobar2000

    0.586 (Mar 28, 2003)

I have used Winamp 2.X and Winamp3 for quite a long time. In these few weeks I have spent sometime on foobar 2000. I think it is nice. It uses only little of memory, lower CPU usage, etc. Although the interface is not so good, it is still a great program.
However, I found one bug in this program. And I am not so sure about this. When I use foobar 2000 listen some mp3, it works OK. After I used Winamp 2.81 to change the ID3v1 and ID3v2 for some mp3, I remove the list and readd the same mp3 in foobar2000. But the foobar2000 still display the old information about the same songs. It seems it cannot update the information ID3v1 or ID3v2 of mp3.

  6. Comment - Opera Releases Rewritten Version 7

    0.586 (Feb 2, 2003 - 6:02 AM)

I had used Opera for a while. This software is not bad. However, almost every browsers which available can download are free. As Opera also free, but it got a big ad banner which is i don't like. And the new version is coming slower. Anyway, I still prefer using Mozilla. Mozilla is not only free. It updated very frequently and secure. And I can use it in different platforms. I think Mozilla is really the good browser for the internet user.

  7. Comment - Microsoft Pushes Copy Protection with Windows Media

I agree that, Microsoft is trying to make its monopoly empire. In my point of view, I agree that there should be some technology to protect the copyright. However, it should not be developed by any companies. It is not only because of the code problems, is some companies trying to control the market. I think there should be some standard organisation, eg. ISO, or other to make such standard for the music industry. And such standard can play it in multiple platform (not only Windows Media).

The real problems is not only the seesion and Media Player. The most important problem is Microsoft trying to control everythings. There will be no open market for other companies and we can see that, Microsoft is doing on it.

I am a Linux user. If the music companies really use this technology, that means it is impossible to play the CD in my Linux.
