    turn off 'check for updates' if you're worried about the program pinging back to Google's servers. also turn off the automatic media detection to remove the tray icon on startup.

    the program is great and a vast improvement over the first Picasa. it wallops Adobe Photo Deluxe and the fact that Picasa 2 is free is only icing on the cake.

    how exactly is this like iTunes? it plays music? it has a library interface? it has ratings?

    iTunes is a resource hog that is practically a requirement for your iPod. Musikcube is an all-purpose music player that reads OGG (iTunes doesnt), and is very lightweight and quick.

    1.8 has been buggy for me, introducing choppy sound playback and stuttering framerates. moving back down to the 1.7.x release solved it though. all in all the best GBA emulator, but it still has some issues.

    absolutely great music player that has become my favorite over both iTunes and WMP. low on the resources, intuitive and great user interface.

    the only thing it needs? portable audio device support. then it'll get the 5th star.

    Simply an amazing program which does almost everything i could ask for. there are some quirks in the software, but the functionality it provides is bar-none. i can update my journal as much as i like, automatically archive old entries, and can conform any html page to fit its needs.

    in addition to XUL it seems to be using some type of flash-based interface. it's very quick and nicely laid out, but that's about it.

    i doubt AOL is going to push any type of proprietary format because they're not in any position to. instead this is a great and convenient way to listen to AOL Radio (IMO the best sounding radio service online) w/o launching the huge application.

    this has been debated for a while on the Winamp boards. there will always remain a free player. the enhanced version offer features such as DVD playback, CD-ripping and the like.

    if you want to use winamp 3 to play your music files, continue to use the free version. if you'd want additional capabilities, by all means pay up.
