  1. Comment - Now bigger, Google prepares to get smaller

    (Mar 12, 2008 - 5:46 PM)

PC_Tool, just give it up man. I am surprised that you are defending google tooth and nail with such fevor. If this does not reek of fanboyism, than what does? I really hope you have shares with them at least.

I agree with a valid point that Google complained rather hypocratically about the Yahoo + Microsoft deal and goes ahead and does a simliar acquisition itself.

I also think that the EU is unfairly biased against Microsoft, from following the hefty fines imposed unto them. At least treat them the same so that they can compete in the business world as equals.

PS I admire Google's approach to business; hire the best people in the field and spend lots of money building products that outperform others and dominate the market. Kinda like Microsoft ... only more ruthless.

  2. Comment - Microsoft launches a new wave of interoperability initiatives

That is an interesting prospect, and I tend to agree with parts of it.

Microsoft has to realise that people have a large array of products to choose from, as opposed to 10-15 years ago and they can no longer justify their exhorbitant prices.

If I was a MS exe, I would do some real thinking about my business model and even release a "basic" Windows for free to compete with Linux.

In their defence, MS is still the best habitat to develop software under. They just need to move with the times and focus more on the online space. This may be a crucial first step.

  3. Comment - Windows Live Search to Replace MSN

    (May 7, 2006 - 10:21 PM)

I tried MSN search and had to go back to google because of the pathetic search results.
I am now trying Live search along with the usual Google and must say, it looks promising.

MS finally looks like it is getting back on track and those billions are starting to show results...

"Google has not modified linux OS to optimize search query's where did you hear that? That's not even possible. Search Queries are WEB based, not computer based."

  5. Comment - Google Increases Search Dominance

No doubt MS is still quite a large and profitable company and will continue to dominate for a long time. They have also shown, that they do monitor market trends and respond to competetive threats (albeit a bit late sometimes).
But Google also have proved a thing or two about the IT business.. the welknown fact that a company is only as good as its employees and if it can sihpon off the top 5% programmers in the industry, it is bound to have the talent to create materpieces. Only gross mismangement can undermine this principle.

What I really admire about Google is their complete belief in their own ability and their lack of reliance on any third party tools.. whatever they need, they can hack (and make better in the process).

Also the very emergence of Google has signalled something really important, the growing maturity of the Open Source market.
