  1. Review - Spyware Terminator

    2.6.0.110 (Aug 26, 2009)

I have been using this for years and even with this update, I was not "Forced" to install anything.

If you do the "Advanced Settings" button @ the start of the install, it lets you choose what you want and don't. You should always do a "Advanced / Custom" setup with ANY software package you install.

Also use the Direct / Offline version of this Install:
    http://dnl.spywaretermin...areTerminator_Setup.exe

It's still an effective tool and gets: *****

And NO "Some Guy" I am no programmer. If fact I am a Desktop Admin that in my 15+ years doing this have learn that becasue a Toolbar is now part of the install does not clarify it as an "Update".

The Crawler NEVER installs under the Advanced Setup. If you open ST and click that you want "Real Time Protection" and tell it you want it "Enabled" then it will start to download the installer. By Default, the Offline Package (Link above) does NOT include these features as default. You most likely used the Installer provided here which is the "Idiot Proof" one for people that can't be bothered with making their own decisions.

Uninstall the version you have an use the Offline Installer (Link Above)

  2. Review - Windows 7 ISO Verifier

    1.0 (Jul 7, 2009)

Is anyone else on the same train of thought I am, but: WHY???

    Edit:

Well, rather then take up the precious Bandwidth hoping that the Torrent you are downloading is a True Version, sign up for the BETA like I am most other did and use it for something that you know is ok.

PS: Is Windows 8.5 on that Torrent. I am sure because it's labeled that way, it MUST be Windows 8.5

  3. Review - RealPlayer for Windows

    11.0.0.544 (Feb 1, 2009)

It had it's time, but this software / format still exist why??? I know they still use it alot over in the UK, but get withe times... FLASH BASED!!!

  4. Review - PerfectDisk Professional

    10 Build 93 (Jan 28, 2009)

I have been using this for about 10 Days (Yes, 10 DAYS) since I am a previous and registered user of PD, they sent me an early link to get it and activation code.

It is quicker then previous editions, but I have noticed a couple issues:

Under General Settings: It does not seem to hold all the customizations I make. I mean, some of them hold, but for instance: There is the option to close PD completely or minimize it to tray, I check "Close Completely" and it does it once and then the setting change is gone. Also, to not show the Splash Screen, not a big one, but again, it seems to hold the setting for one time then gone.

Overall, the product works and I have been a PD user since PD 6, but these small glitches will not stop me from using the product. Overall, this is a 5, but until the small bugs are fixed, it really needs to be a 4 1/2.

  5. Review - DriverMax

    4.6 (Oct 17, 2008)

Although most IT people such as me would love a tool like that that works, I am not putting down the idea, but your listing says it's "Freeware"

"Freeware" generally means, no ties / connection or need to make an external account. When this software starts it indicates that you need to make an account do download / search for new drivers.

Also, it shows a 30 Day limitation unless you put in a valid Serial. None of that was ever in any "Freeware" I have used before.

Bottom line, I like the idea and I know may people that would be useful for, but if you are going to list it as "Freeware", then deliver on what it is!

5 Rating for that the Software can do
1 Rating for the "Bait and Switch" Freeware aspect.

  6. Comment - Don't panic: Verizon will get Palm Pre, too

    4.6 (May 29, 2009 - 1:32 PM)

That's six months after the Pre's launch on Sprint lands on Verizon in December or so, just enough time for them to cripple the phone's best features and push it out before Valentine's Day.

    Sounds pretty reasonable, no?

  7. Comment - So far, no surprises as Conficker switches to new system

    4.6 (Apr 1, 2009 - 8:50 AM)

Not that its not a genuine threat, but this reminds me of what the AV Companies were accused of years ago:

+ Their was a similar threat.
+ They all knew it was coming.
+ Everyone bought new AV Software.

See what I am getting at? They made a threat sooooooo legit that the AV Companies (Symantec / McAfee / Etc...) pushed all their sales through the roof!

Don't get me wrong, I work in IT and have since 1996 and I firmly believe in running a good AV software (ESET - Smart Security 4.0 is the BOMB! http://www.eset.com/smartsecurity), but for most it's a scare tactic, like when they say it's gonna snow, storm of the century. They tell us all to "Stock Up" on Bread, Milk and all the necessities. This to a degree is no different.

Bottom line: As long as you are good about keeping Windows Updated (http://www.windowsupdate.com) and run an updated AV, you should be ok.

  8. Comment - Report: Hybrid movie and game Blu-ray discs coming to PS3

    4.6 (Feb 12, 2009 - 3:32 PM)

I think it is a GREAT Idea! If one good thing HD-DVD had, they did Hybrid Discs with one side of the Disc having the HD Version of the movie and the other side having the standard DVD Edition.

Hybrids in general would cut down on the need to buy multiple editions of games or movies!

There is no need to release a movie / game multiple times on different formats anymore and keep labeling them "Special". Some games / movies, the reason they are a Special Edition is simply because they are on a Disc. I mean, how many versions of Starship Troopers can one need!???

It really only cost $2 - $4 to produce (I mean EVERYTHING) the actual Disc / Box and Covers for todays games and movies, They could leave the prices alone and STILL make a decent deal. I remember back in the late 90's, I worked my last retail job, 1996 to be exact. The PS2 hit the market and it was $200. Employee Price was $212 (Yes, $12 more then retail). Then you looked @ the games. Games retail were $49.99, yet employee price was $6 - $9, HUGE PROFIT!!!

Once you have the Hardware (Players and Consoles) you then need the Software (Movies and Games)

  9. Comment - FiOS could give more 'economic stimulus' to Verizon than others

    4.6 (Feb 1, 2009 - 1:23 PM)

Like anything else, it's a work in progress. It's better then it was a year earlier and I am sure it will be better a year from now.

Comcast and other companies have a lifetime of Experience under their belt, for a company that has only been doing this a few years, it's ok.

Did you loose your Job @ Verizon to someone in India / Offshore???

  10. Comment - FiOS could give more 'economic stimulus' to Verizon than others

    4.6 (Feb 1, 2009 - 1:21 PM)

"What-A-Waste" seems to have a Gripe with Verizon. I am guessing he either got Fired / Laid off, or he is simply jealous that these services are not available in his area.

    No one likes a 'Whiner"
