  1. Review - Google Chrome for Windows

    0.3.154.3 Beta (Oct 16, 2008)

All I know is that it opens really fast and I like the default page. Just don't look at porn without going to the incognito window or its thumbnail will be stuck on your default page for your wife to see when she's on your computer.

  2. Review - Wine

    1.1.5 (Sep 22, 2008)

I have never (Not once) installed a windows program using wine and had it work. I've tried several times. Unless you actually look up an app on the winehq website and verify that it actually works ( then follow tedious instructions), then you are out of luck. Good try, but I have to run windows for the foreseeable future.

  3. Review - Safari for Windows

    3.0.1 Beta (Jun 15, 2007)

Back button on my mouse doesn't work. Middle mouse button doesn't 'auto-scroll'.
No plugins. I'm sorry ,but I need to be able to turn off CSS and block Flash; context search via right-mouse click; Yeah, I'm spoiled
I preferred the 'brushed-metal' look of the earlier version (for Apple).

I still lie Firefox the best.

  4. Review - PC-BSD

    1.3.3_1 (Mar 7, 2007)

Loaded for me the first time on an old Dell 450 with 384 megs and it runs great! I highly recommend this.

P.S. KDE Rules (except for Mac OSX) Gnome sux.

  5. Review - openSUSE

    10.3 Alpha 1 (Feb 15, 2007)

openSuse is by far the best Distro. I've tried them all.

  6. Comment - Psystar puts Blu-ray on a Mac OS desktop first

That analogy would've have worked a few years ago. But Toyota's quality has been free-falling the past few years, while Ford's has been going up. Also, Toyota's service has been cut, especially warranties. Look at the new Tundra. Its got a bed shake problem where the bed will hit the cab and Toyota will tell you to go pound sand if you bring it in to get it fixed.

  7. Comment - Students now avoiding IT degrees, despite good job prospects

    10.3 Alpha 1 (Jun 23, 2008 - 10:46 PM)

I used to be a web developer and made about 40k per year back in 2003. Now I'm a street striper (you know the lines on the street? Yeah, I paint those). I've been in the industry for 3 1/2 years and I'll pull over 65k this year. Plus, all the education required for this career is on-the-job. Meaning that while you were compiling debt over the 4 to 6 years to get your degree I was earning money getting mine.
That's not to say its a great career. Its dangerous, you're subject to varying weather conditions (although we don't work in the rain) you have to work nights a lot, and you're treated like a piece on machinery rather than a human being.
Now, I just use my computer for information, communication and (get this), fun.

  8. Comment - AP Offers Satellite View of New Orleans

    10.3 Alpha 1 (Sep 2, 2005 - 5:56 PM)

Just go to the digital globe website and look at the media pictures. Very high detail. Very disturbing.

  9. Comment - Apple Announces Switch to Intel Chips

    10.3 Alpha 1 (Jun 6, 2005 - 8:48 PM)

I would've thought Sony and IBM would've been able to sell Apple on their new "Cell" architecture. Especially since its main selling point is: "its for Digital Content Creation".

  10. Comment - Carmack: No Quake III Source Yet

    10.3 Alpha 1 (Jan 4, 2005 - 3:25 PM)

Not like anything good came out of id releasing its previous source code.
