mjm01010101> you're right about the fact that Thunderbird 2.x has some long standing issues.
However, tb it is far from abandoned, with 3.0 on tracks, and some alphas already kicking if you dare trying them (they're called "Shredder" for a reason). Mozilla has even created a separate legal entity to support thunderbird development. So yes that's a long time since the last major version, but the www.mozillamessaging.com guys are catching on. Just give them some more months...
7.04 "Feisty Fawn" Beta (Mar 23, 2007)
Richardky > you made me smile :p What you said is sooooo true. Just work, smoothly without lamies as WGA, and now in Feisty with Beryl integrated, the "Wow" is just one click away.
2006.0 (Feb 27, 2006)
Best Linux distro for (there is a for) -at least slightly- experienced people who want control on their os and don't want to be assaulted by dozens of scripts for any basic task.
Very clean, very updateable, very customizable.
Hey ! In fact that's not a distro, that's a LFS (http://www.linuxfromscratch.org) with some excellent features like portage. But I like it. A lot.

yay, it's pretty cool, especially for a freeware.
and just a small answer to forgie who says "one thing i'd like to see added is the ability to view the size of subdirectories"
> this wouldn't be a good idea : this sort of operation takes a -LOT- of time. Because unless operating from a completely DB-ed filesystem (and FAT/NTFS is not), the proggie would have to recursively parse directories to calculate their size. In fact, it has been added as an option in some similar software and it makes browsing just unusable.
If you want an idea of how time-consuming the process is, look at the great WinDirStat (which is actually very fast): http://windirstat.sourceforge.net/
