  1. Review - VirtualBox

    2.1.2 (Jan 22, 2009)

Very fast and solid emulation software - incredible that something as good as that is distributed as freeware. There are a few bugs; for me, the most annoying is that using of the clipboard has strange effect. However, VirtualBox would even deserve five stars if it weren't free, so I am glad it is.

  2. Review - VirtualBox

    1.6 (May 3, 2008)

Excellent speed and functionality, very simple and intuitive usage, and all that for free!
My only problem with this software so far is that some processes may freeze when cut and paste operations are performed.

  3. Review - RegScanner

    1.62 (Jan 21, 2008)

Very useful extension to RegEdit (adds a reasonably fast and more comfortable search). Being lightweight, free and easy to use there remains not much to wish for (I would like localisations, but then again this would make the program bigger). Some speed might be gained by updating the status bar less frequently during the search.

  4. Review - foobar2000

    0.9.5 Beta 1 (Oct 22, 2007)

I like foobar's unobtrusive interface (although for many other users its simplicity seems to be rather a drawback). It is not perfect (e.g. it would be very convenient if it could play MIDI files, too), and I would prefer it not to be restricted to "newer operating systems" in order to give up its minimalistic interface. Otherwise, the player works very well for a "newbie" like myself.

  5. Review - Sumatra PDF

    0.7 (Jul 31, 2007)

Nice new open-source viewer - now it supports localisation. The rendering engine makes a very good impression. At present, some features are still lacking (e.g. support for internal hyperlinks).

  6. Comment - Windows 7: Vista without the crap

    0.7 (Oct 27, 2009 - 8:38 AM)

When I gave a negative review of Microsoft Sync Framework, I found that the review was removed shortly afterwards. When I asked the Fileforum authorities about the reason for the removal, they replied with the general statement that it could only have been removed if it contained slander or was not based upon fact, both of which was obviously not true.

Although I really appreciate the good work of Fileforum, I also have the feeling that advertisement for Microsoft product and opponent bashing are part of the deal.
