  1. Review - Opera for Windows (Beta)

    10.0 Build 1601 Beta (Jun 24, 2009)

actually, the RAM does affect the computer performance quite a lot, especially when multiple applications are running.

I use Opera primarily but it has a nasty habit of consuming large amount of memory, not sure why. and if I having multipe tabs opening, then later minimize Opera to work on something else, after a while, say 10 or 20 minutes, upon returning to opera, opera would appear "Frozen" for a while until it could catch its breath. This problem has been there as long as i could remember. I never had this problem with Fireforx or IE.

  2. Review - Total Commander

    7.50 Beta 1 (Apr 16, 2009)

have been using total commander for over 10 years, great application.
few nice things about the new beta:

    a. have groups in the ftp list
    b. vista style directory path display (you can click on any level in the path to show its subfolders)
    c. in configuration, there is a drop down button which you can see all the hotkeys that have been assigned.

    ...

  3. Review - POP Peeper

    3.3.1.0 (Sep 3, 2008)

it's a quite nice email client, but this is not what i wanted.

i just need a simple email notification which can display the headers of the new email, and when i click on the account it can open the broswer and log into the account. so far i'm using addons in firefox to do this.

  4. Review - PSPad editor

    4.5.4.2331 Beta (Sep 2, 2008)

i like this software, but it bothers me that it has been beta all the time!

  5. Review - Norton Removal Tool for Windows 2000/XP/Vista

    2009.0.0.37 (Sep 2, 2008)

  6. Comment - Vista's image problem personified

    2009.0.0.37 (Aug 22, 2008 - 4:33 PM)

i don't use either linux nor mac, only windows, but i don't want to upgrade to vista, nor do i find any need to do so.

damn, the vista is having serious weight problem, too slow to operate, it is dreadful.

ye, you can upgrade the momory, the cpu, the hard disk, the graphic card, etc. but you might want to upgrade your bank account first

Hey, Micro$oft, why not work on a new OS and keep churing out XP SP4 and SP5 for a while at the same time?

  7. Comment - After backlash, Sony to drop $50 fee for not installing bloatware

    2009.0.0.37 (Mar 21, 2008 - 1:58 PM)

the retailers have been doing this since day 1, if you ask for a clean version, then they send you to geek or fire squid and pay $$ for the time you spent with them.

also same as comcast, they push you all the crap you don't want, and charge you $$ to "demote" the service.

  8. Comment - Opera: Browser Downloads Surging

    2009.0.0.37 (Oct 6, 2005 - 8:59 AM)

IE breaks on a lot of pages (my gmail for example)
Firefox breaks on a lot of pages (and, my gmail for example)
Opera breaks on a lot of pages (and again, my gmail for example)

I use opera primarily because of its familarity to me, IE for pages breaks down on opera or sites only rendable in IE. I still use firefox 1.0 once in a while. Tried it out with great enthuesthm (download it probably 10 times) in the beginning but quickly cooled down, and got colder as the new upgrades pops up like crazy. Nothing against firefox, it is just not for my taste.
