  1. Review - QT Lite

    3.0.0 Beta 2 (Sep 19, 2009)

I've stopped using this crap QT about 2 years ago. Never once missed any functionality, but avoided some intrusive trojan-style Apple updates instead.

The same goes for Java, another obsolete bloated POS that keeps updating all the time and makes your system vulnerable.

Good riddance to both of them !

L.E. OK, I've posted in the wrong section, I'll admit. Should have voiced my concerns in the QT area. But still, a 16 MB download for ONE stupid codec is not really what I call "light". For God's sake, FFDshow decodes everything on this planet and it's a 4 MB download, so something's not quite right here.

Everything else I've said stands. I'll give this a 3 though, because it's a program that strives to make something out of a rootkit :)

  2. Review - Microsoft Office Suite 2007

    (SP2) Service Pack 2 (Apr 28, 2009)

Office 2007 is good, a bit difficult to get used to if you've been an avid user of the previous suite. But once you do, you'll probably find it cute. As to overall functionality, it's still in a class of its own, IMHO.

Still, I had one very annoying problem that MS failed to fix. It was introduced in SP1. A real dealbreaker for me and it drove me back to Office XP with the 2007 file support addon.

I don't have 2007 installed anymore, so it would be great if someone could check if it's still there. Open a text file, CTRL+H (replace) and let's say Any digit, Any digit, Paragraph mark. Leave the "replace with" field blank and press ok. This used to lock up my 2007 SP1 installation. Thanks !

  3. Review - Mozilla Firefox (v3.5) for Windows

    3.1 Beta 3 (Mar 13, 2009)

This is truly the best browsing experience available these days. Extensions are what makes this browser amazing.

Speed ? Well, it's not slower than anything out there, certainly not slower than Chrome or Safari and it crushes them both on features.

So there you have it... Firefox is fast, ultra customizable, slick and just plain usable. Who wouldn't want to use it ?

I've been using the 3.1 beta since it first came out without a glitch. No random locukups, no funny looking elements, nothing. Two minor problems on two different sites, both addressed in this version, which seems even faster and more responsive. All my previous extensions work just fine, with the exception of my most vital one: Firegestures, lol. But the Nightly Tester Tools fixed that in no time, with no side effects.

I highly recommend this beta. It's rock solid, fast and feature-full. My single standing gripe is related to the cold startup time, but it's worth the extra two seconds for all the goodies you're getting.

  4. Review - Turbo Navigator

    1.47 (Feb 23, 2009)

Damn those tabs, wrong place to post lol. Sorry about that guys.

This is a nifty little program as well :)

  5. Review - EZTitles

    2.0.57 (Oct 6, 2008)

You're kidding me. Please point me to a program meant for PROFESSIONAL subtitling that's cheaper than this. And no, Subtitle Studio is not a professional subtitling program. Professionals work with PAC and 890 and the like.

If there are any cheap programs that support these formats, don't hesitate to link a few :)
