  2. Comment - Microsoft to Lock Pirates Out of Vista

    (Oct 5, 2006 - 8:38 AM)

    Dumb, Da Dumb Dumb Dumb!

Vista was built from scratch and is not an extension of XP.

It is the dinosaurs in our industry that is ruining it, not Microsoft. Quit attacking the easy target and learn some new software once in a while. You might like it.

  3. Comment - Symantec, Adobe Complain Over Vista

    (Sep 22, 2006 - 9:11 AM)

I just have to say, all the whining that Adobe and Symantec are doing are really falling on deaf ears for me. They both have become complacent in their market and now Microsoft has been forced to bolster security by offering these products themselves.

The old addage, "If you want it done right, do it yourself." certainly rings true with these vendors.

Don't get me wrong, I am not defending the products Microsoft is bundling as being superior in any way, but I agree with a log of the posts that there is a need for better software in these two markets.

Case in Point: Adobe uses the .MSI model for their installations, but refuses to allow slipstreamed updates or compacted executables for installation. Instead they require you to install patch on top of patch on top of patch and their installer is super bloated with some other 3rd party compression tool.

Case in Point: Symantec has not had a single innovation in their corporate products in years and at one time were the leader in that market sector. Now people are looking for alternatives.

Sounds like they just need to put up, or shut up!

  4. Comment - MS AntiSpyware Free for Personal Use

    (Feb 16, 2005 - 9:07 AM)

Ummm, you're not making any sense there barbie!

I see you are really expecting MS to release this software to all platforms. Why?

What does the developer's lack of knowledge in writing a competent program have to do with Microsoft. My little brother can write a program that runs on XP, sounds like lazy developers.

  5. Comment - Microsoft Buys Antivirus Vendor

    (Feb 9, 2005 - 10:42 AM)

Why are people so intent on complaining about Windows Technology, even when their motives are obviously to better the software.

How well do the AntiVirus Products out there really work? When you get a new virus that is ahead of the definitions curve, what do you have to do, download a removal tool. Does microsoft write the viruses? So how is it their fault? They are now taking actions to further protect their products, and so what if it's not free. Don't you pay for your AV product now. From what I have heard, they are working on technology that will not only detect and prevent viruses, but actually remove them if they happen to infect the system. Same for worms, trojans, etc.

Symantec, Mcafee, and a handful of others have been lax too long in making software that hardly works and releasing yearly updates with little more than a new version number to generate revenue. I hope that MS is a good competitor since it can only make AV protection better.

As an expample, do yourself a favor and download the AntiSpyware Beta. If this is any indication of how well their AV software will work, then I am very excited. It may not be perfect, but it does a helluva a better job than most pay spyware removal software and it's only beta1.

As for the "holes" if you would provide me to the link of the bulletproof software you have developed and scoured the code for every conceivable possible security hole, I will gladly download it. But it must also be usuable and intuitive, which is exactly what a lot of alternative operating systems are not. But, if you work for a company that only employs rocket scientists and IT professionals, then go for it.

    Chew on this!
