tasty: maybe it's time you upgrade your pc if you are still worrying about 20mb of ram taken up by aim.. if you aren't running at least a gig by now, freakin upgrade.. ram is so cheap nowadays and the gains are worth it. so if you are running a gig of ram, you are complaining about an application using .02%?! now i know thats a big number to you, but i think you might be alright having the other .98% of your 1gig of ram leftover. just thank god it isn't .06%!!!

  2. Review - Nero

    7.2.0.3 (Apr 26, 2006)

I tried to burn a simple audio cd yesterday with nero.. a simple audio cd that ended up being a coaster cause it skipped like crazy. nero couldn't even burn an AUDIO CD without skipping! wtf!? i couldn't believe it.. i mean i think that it might have been the first coaster i burned in years. booted up itunes to burn again.. worked perfectly, of course. it boggles my mind that a cd/dvd burning app could fail at such an easy burning process.

  3. Review - µTorrent for Windows

    1.4.2 Beta Build 432 (Mar 3, 2006)

i love how people complain about the updates. like they have no self control over choosing to update or not. if you don't want to update more than once a week or month, then don't.. it really is as easy as that. but the best part.. is that it literally takes less than 30 seconds to fully download/install/integrate utorrent (and that's including the 5 second download wait).. meaning that you people who complain about the updates are complaining about something that you could do 3 or 4 times over in the amount of time it took you to write up a complaint in the first place.

if you don't like utorrent, or prefer another client to it, more power to you and all that. but to complain about something so simple my grandma could do it in her sleep.. its pathetic.

Same problem here .. all the buttons on the screen are labeled in german.. and same with all the options. I checked my language settings and everything, nothing is german or has ever been set to german .. hopefully this gets worked out, looks like a great app!

  7. Comment - AT&T: Without a landline phone, you could die

    1.0 Beta 4a (Jul 8, 2009 - 10:20 PM)

If you have Comcast VOIP or a similar VOIP service through a cable provider you are almost entirely in the same boat as anyone who has an AT&T landline service. All Comcast EMTAs provide E911 service which provides 911 with all of your info the moment you dial them, regardless if you can get a word out. All ARRIS and Webstar EMTA modems have at least a 5 hour battery backup on them in case of power outage. This backup will ensure your phone and internet service remains intact when your 'house' loses power.. If your node loses power then you are screwed since it won't matter if your phone has power without a node to communicate with.. All cable providers have generators they can use to supply power to a node in the case of a major power outage and most respectable cable providers restore power to an outage in under 90min. If you do lose power for a few days but you have a generator, your phone and internet services will work like normal as long as that node's power has been restored and the modem is getting power from your generator. If you have any kind of UPS system that your modem is plugged into, your service will last even longer due to that as well.

I'll take my chances and save a bundle of a cash with any VOIP service over AT&T. Oh yeah, and to the guy concerned about keeping AT&T for his fax line, you might want to check with your cable provider to see if they offer a POTS line. Some have added this service specifically for fax lines at half the cost of AT&T.

    1.0 Beta 4a (Jun 19, 2009 - 8:01 AM)

My question is, how do they come to these astronomical damage numbers? Did they prove that "millions" of people actually downloaded the music? How can they pull these damages seemingly out of thin air without evidence that proves each instance? I think most people would agree that downloading illegally is wrong and if caught you stand the chance of being penalized, but the penalties just don't add up or make sense.

Also, I just don't see how this is going to have any impact on anything. Millions upon millions download illegally every day, and one case like this is not going to stop that. If they prosecute 500 downloaders a year, every year for the rest of my life, I would still have a one in a million chance of getting caught. I have a better chance of dying from car accident or cancer or all the other things more important to worry about.

pretty good article that says a lot of things i've been saying all along about why the music industry is failing..

    http://torrentfreak.com/...e-music-industry-090227/

the reason the music industry will fail is not because of piracy. it is because it uses an outdated and inferior business model.
