    I think that Sony will bring the PS3 up to full DivX certification within 2008, they have been pretty good at sorting out firmware updates and it should not be too hard. I believe that the 4GB fat32 issue is a more prominent one because NTFS is a file system created by Microsoft and so maybe Sony cannot use it. I don't see why Sony can'y bring out a firmware update that allows you to create/format a Sony Partition System partition on an external USB drive, the same file system as on the PS3 and it is not limited at 4GB. Sony could quite easily create a windows driver for the file system so the USB drive could be read by a windows PC.

    Maybe it is just wishful thinking but something needs to be done to allow the PS3 to access files larger than 4gb on an external USB drive as many HD movie files use the 264 codec suported by the PS3 but are over 4GB sometimes up to 20GB.
