You "buy" a new computer every few years? whatever happened to building one... if you "buy" a computer you do not need to worry about upgrading hardware or OS... you are a best buy shopper.

and if you do try the upgrade look out for ID10T errors! :)
funny that I am using windows 7 on a 5 year old laptop (V2310 by compaq) with 2 GB RAM and Windows 7 rocks on that. a machine that vista actually choked on and died.
or better yet go buy a mac and leave us alone. write posts for the mac guys or something, mr carmi levy.
(my 2 cents)

I actually use the PS3 as a bluray player mostly. At the time i bought it. the 80 GB version for $399 with a bunch of games and extra controller on a sale. The price of bluray players were about $350... for $50 more i got the PS3 which is better.

You can, sort of. an installed os, moved to another machine which does not have the same hardware has a slim chance of surviving due to key drivers installed for the specific hardware that the OS was running on. however. you can try. a great program i use for imaging is acronis. run a google search on it and see if yo ulike it. i find it 100% easier to use than norton ghost and a lot more options. including the ability to setup a F11 key for recovery and recover to a previous point provided you have an image created. works great. i use it on all my machines. and on my wife's machine it gets used at least once a month when she does something and breaks the OS :)
