Overall very nice. You really need to play with it to get a better feel. I do a lot of remote presentations so I'm curious how this will look over WebEx and such.
Beta 3.1 (Jul 27, 2007)
First, really nice program and free makes it even better.
Second, as far as I know there's no actual defrag APIs in Windows. There's an API to move sectors of a file which is what defragging technically is, but Windows provides no logic, you have to come up with that on your own. Sure, there's the lite diskeeper but that's a program and not an API. So one company might have a better logic engine, but they're still probably using core Windows APIs like DeviceIoControl.

I hate posting without reviewing but I felt I had to give people more information. SCE combines MOM, SMS and a couple of other products together. If you follow the links on the download page you'll get to their homepage:

mstsc /span = awesome. Just tried it on our 2003 TS and it looks great.
Remote programs = awesome
Remote access of local hard drives = awesome.
The only reason I'm giving it a 4 is like the review below about the extra security. I understand why they put it in but now there's a bunch of extra clicks that are kinda annoying. Still, a great job.

I hate responding in a review but I can't help it. No, I'm not the author. Do a google search on betanews for my name and you'll find over 800 results - I've been here for a while.
Yes, the program does have a built-in web server, that's how most of the option screens are delivered. Its actually documented in the official FAQ:
http://mediacoder.source...lt-in_HTTP_daemon_do.3F
As for the Google AdSense, the only place that's used is on the actual MediaCoder webpage on SourceForge. There is nothing in the actual program.
I definately agree that the program has a lot of room to grow but its definately helped me out many times. Sure, you have to play and tweak the dials a lot, but its still the most comprehensive one out there, at least that I've seen.

I like how you keep saying "convicted monopolist" like you would say "convicted murderer" or something else. Not saying you're wrong in any way, just think its funny. Also, you say that "The rules are different for a convicted monopolist". As far as I can tell the "rules" are just that they have to pay a fine and follow the instructions of the EC, which is exactly what they're doing.

I'm an American so this is all kind of a foreign comedy to me. I think the EU is Basil Fawlty.

NTFS is DRM, man! If my mom has a song in her profile I should be able to listen to it, too.
Okay, just kidding, sorry, you can thumb me down.

Here's a post from someone at MS about Oslo and UML (post removed but still in Google cache):

Be careful with the word "standards". Acid3 also requires things that are still W3C drafts such as CSS3 Text and Fonts. They will become standards some day but are subject to change, too.
