    What happened to the spanned taskbar feature? I want my taskbar across the bottom of both of my monitors.. that was like the only "feature" I used that came with the Detonator drivers.. Anyone know how to get the taskbar to span using these drivers?

    pplchamp: Microsoft Internet Explorer doesn't require me to type my password when using my security certificate. There isn't any legal requirements that says you have to type in a password to use a security certificate. It is just some dumb thing AOL has setup in AIM. Until they let you save your password so you don't have to keep typing it in, security certificates won't get popular with AIM.

    PHP continues to be the best scripting language available. The language is 100% free, practically all web hosts support it (unless they do the strict MS crap only thing), and there are literally thousands of free pre-built scripts that use it. (I like ColdFusion, too, but it is costly.. I hate ASP.NET because MS servers just suck too bad..)

    Yeah, it takes a bit longer to install.. Big deal, my computer is much faster than it was a couple years ago when 5.0 came out. Yeah, it takes a bit longer to load.. Again, big deal, my computer is faster than it used to be.. Yeah, the filesize is big.. Who cares? You only have to download it once.. I'm happy with the product. Once a PDF is loaded, I've noticed that going between pages is a ton faster. It includes several features that I like, for example a "back" button (and a "previous page" button). I don't recall this being in the old version, but if it wasn't, it obviously wasn't in a good location if I didn't notice it. Overall, I say its worth the download unless you are running some POS Pentium 100MHz computer that you bought at a Goodwill thrift store..

  5. Review - ICE Book Reader Professional

    Despite reasonable efforts, I was unable to get a .lit book to open with a white background. I don't understand why this program doesn't have a white background anyway.. I mean, books are white, paper is white, why shouldn't an ebook be white? Support for ebooks is extremely crude. Interface is crude and non-intutive. This program has a LONG way to go before I'd consider using it on a regular basis.

    Linux is a piece of crap. It doesn't support about half of my hardware. Examples: SoundBlaster Extigy sound card, my GeForce2 graphics card (even though drivers are available, they don't work.), D-link USB radio, and much more.. It could be the best operating system in the universe but if I can't use my hardware with it then it is worthless.

    The company I work for has thousands of Windows 95 machines in use throughout the world because it is significantly cheaper to keep them in use (in certain areas) than to replace them with newer machines.

    The flip side to this is that these Windows 95 computers are used in areas where nobody would even want anything higher than Office 2000. If they needed to view documents made with newer Office versions then they would just download the neccessary filter/plugin/viewer/whatever you want to call it.

    if the hardware hash was as simple as you just explained, then the activation based on hardware wouldn't do much good. i have a linksys network card in my computer, i install windowsxp and activate it. i then ghost my harddrive, temporarily put the linksys in my friends comp, copy my ghost to his harddrive, and, according to your description of how the activation works, all is well in the world and i just "casual" pirated the software to my friend. i'm assumming the actual protection measures are slightly more advanced then simply checking to see if someone has changed all their hardware.

    i don't know grturne, but seeing as how he lives in australia and apparently has been subjected to microsoft's "pilot" for the new anti-piracy measures, it seems he would know whether or not this activation is painless or not. from what he said, it sounds like its not very painless at all, and that it is, in fact, quite annoying and a hassle. why make installing software/hardware any more difficult then it already is? its already bad enough when you install a new piece of hardware that conflicts with another piece of hardware or doesn't have correct drivers for your OS, don't you think it'd be even worse if you still have those problems, except now you also have to contact Microsoft in order to keep your OS going because you added/changed your hardware?
