GPS in 3D may be coming to the US

Nav N Go, a producer of navigation software for handhelds, may finally be ready to bring its 3D GPS software to American handhelds, as it debuts its latest version this week at CeBIT in Hannover.

The company only recently began a strong appeal to United States clients, making its first appearance in the US at CES 2008 in January. At that time, the company was showing off its iGO multimedia navigation software, which today it has made official.

iGO8 stands out from competitors like Telenav and Navizon's Virtual GPS because of the degree of detail presented at street level. iGO8 shows off a great deal by including 3D renderings of buildings, landmarks, and topographical formations.

Further features include turn-by-turn spoken directions including proper street names, an integrated music and video player, and travel guide companion functions.

Nav N Go has partnerships with companies like Harman Kardon, LG Electronics, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, QNX Software Systems, Asus Computer GmbH, Clarion Europe GmbH, and Pioneer Europe NV. Asus has allready rolled out its R300 and R700 devices with iGO my way, and Sony's newest PlayStation Portables will be prepackaged with iGO8 this Spring.
