TiVo lifts the curtain on new on-demand partner content

Broadband-connected TiVo owners today get a boost to their on-demand content catalogs as CinemaNow and Jaman make their libraries available for rent.

TiVo's partnership with CinemaNow was

announced in May, along with a partnership with Jaman at the beginning of 2008, Today, users will begin to see the benefits of these partnerships as their on-demand rental content expands.

TiVo Series2, Series3, TiVo HD, and TiVo HD XL DVRs will be able to peruse Jaman's content today, which focuses on independent and international cinema. Films can be rented for between $1.99 and $4.99 in 24 hour or 7 day rentals, and some may also be purchased, with pricing determined by the content owner.

Users must sign up for an account on Jaman's Web site and then link to their TiVo account. Each rental requires the input of a 5-digit Jaman PIN, and according to the service, downloading begins 15 minutes later (or potentially longer, with slower connections).

CinemaNow for TiVo is still listed as "coming soon", but TiVo announced today that it will be open for business next week. Initially limited to content from Walt Disney Studios, this will make standard definition versions of Disney films both classic and contemporary available for rent starting at $2.99. While this only grows TiVo's on-demand library by 56 titles, Disney titles are an important addition, and more studios are soon to follow, according to TiVo.
