AT&T Unveils 'Tilt' Smartphone

AT&T today unveiled its first Windows Mobile 6-enabled smartphone, the Tilt. Named for its 2.8" screen, which tilts like a laptop's when slid up to reveal the handset's full QWERTY keyboard.

Containing a host of powerful features, the device includes Wi-Fi with 802.11b and g frequencies, a 3-megapixel camera, the highest resolution yet for AT&T, Bluetooth 2.0, support for up to 32Gb microSD memory, and global 3G Capabilities from AT&T's UMTS/HSDPA-based BroadbandConnect Network.

The most interesting features of this device fall under the Telenav GPS Navigator heading. Turn-by-turn voice and onscreen directions for driving and walking are presented in conjunction with colorful 3D maps. The software can turn the Tilt into a GPS tracking device, a time sheet manager, wireless form tablet, job dispatcher and bar code scanner.

For those who rely heavily upon e-mail communication, the Tilt provides numerous options. In addition to the Microsoft Direct Push mail software and AT&T's popular Express Mail service, the Tilt is the first Windows Mobile 6 device to come with BlackBerry Connect 4.0. BlackBerry Connect adds support for push email from Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, and Novell Groupwise.

Intended for the professional, as well as the ever-elusive "prosumer," AT&T's Tilt will be available October 5 for a promotional price of $299.99 USD at retail stores nationwide.

It rocks I have the 8525 and it's solid. Have no issues with the phone. People say I should of got a Iphone and I say why? Lets see... I can play movies, music videos, music, MP3's. I have MS Office, Email, Internet and the list goes on and on.

When someone says the Iphone is better then a Pocket PC ask them if they can open a word document or a excel document... Show them you can do anything they can do... And when they are still on their high horse about the Iphone the flip the switch on the bottom of your HTC phone and pop the battery out... That usually pops their bubble since they can't do that and they can only send the Iphone in to get a battery put in it while they are without a phone for weeks. And if they still think the Iphone is better then ask them if they have a 3G connection. That I will never figure out why Apple didn't put 3G in that phone. 3G is so much faster than E. The internet FLIES on 3G I've got up to 1.5 download on this phone and that's smoking.

I Love the HTC Phones and they are well worth the money. And they are very easy to run... If you can run XP you can run a Pocket PC.

I've been noticing HTC alot lately. This device is something that has me definately interested. Can anyone comment on the quality and perfomance of HTC devices?

Isnt there a nokia phone simular to this thats been out over a year? I guess the price is the main thing here, much cheaper.

Based on the HTC Kaiser, it is sold as HTC TyTN II elsewhere.

I was just reading about this phone earlier today. I saw it on another site for around $700-800. $299.99 is a steal compared to that. The features comprise just about anything you could ever want in a phone. Nice to see AT&T getting a phone like this.

That $299.99 price tag is for new contracts. If you're already an AT&T customer, you have to pay the full retail price, which is $599.99.

Pretty lame how these companies only offer discounts to new customers, but existing customers constantly get the shaft.

I have been waiting for a year to see a US company come out with this type of phone....They are pretty slow to follow what is going on in the world.. Now waiting for T-mobile to add this type of phone to its phones....
