A new alarm clock speakerphone for iPhones and iPods

Appropriately enough for the week of Apple's 3G iPhone launch, iHome Wireless today started shipping its first Bluetooth-enabled Alarm Clock Radio Speakerphone with support for iPhones.

NEW YORK CITY (BetaNews) - Outfitted with a universal docking and charging station that accommodates either an iPhone or iPod, iHome Wireless' new clock radio allows you to wake up to either its own integrated AM/FM radio or music streamed from a Bluetooth-enabled phone, PDA, or computer.

You can also use the speakerphone's built-in microphone to answer and place phone calls while the phone is docked, said Matt Schlosberg, an iHome spokesperson, speaking with BetaNews at today's Bluetooth SIG press event.

Other capabilities include four-speaker stereo, Reson8 audio technology, dual alarm with two separate wake times, battery back-up, and a full-function remote control with snooze.

iHome's latest device enables Bluetooth communications with either the new 3G iPhone or the earlier edition, BetaNews was told. It supports the Handsfree, Headset, AVRCP, and A2DP Bluetooth profiles.
