Apple's annual iPod Refresh event confirmed

Reports from "music industry executives" earlier in August which predicted a September 9 iPod refresh have been confirmed today, making 2009's iPod unveiling exactly like 2008's.
Today, Apple sent out invitations for its annual iPod event, where the year's lineup of personal media players will be unveiled. The event will take place at the Yerba Buena Cetner for the Arts Theater in San Francisco.
Aside from the persistent rumors of an Apple tablet/e-reader, there isn't a tremendous amount of excitement about this year's event. It is widely expected that the "Cocktail" interactive music album platform will be introduced, as well as new iPods equipped with cameras and microphones.
I'd still like to see a built-in FM/HD Radio receiver. A microphone would definitely be nice and I can't wait to see if that makes the list this time.

|Not that I want to start a flame-war, but you do know the Zune "HD" has both the FM/HD radio and a microphone, right?

|w8 it has a microphone? I never heard of that one...
its tegra chip is cool.
I wish the touch PMPs' could have HDDs on them, 16-64 GB of space is too little for me :(

|I wouldn't. I have my music, and i can listen to a multitude of streaming services on my iPhone. I listen to my music collection as i do not want to listen to a bunch of Howard Stern clones, non stop advertising, and the same five songs over and over and over and over.

|lol cool. I heard from cnet.com that there wasn't gonna be a tablet though...

|yawn... at this point it seems the unveiling of the *new* iPod lineup is curious at best, but no-ones expecting anything earth-shattering. If the mic rumor is true, all i can say is about friggin' time.

|Microphones and cameras, increased storage, and that's about it.
