Beta test a portable Web browsing device

By Nate Mook, BetaNews

Centercode is seeking beta testers in the New York City metropolitan area to try out a new device that serves as a portable Web browser. It works via cellular network, but comes already activated and won't require you to switch from your current phone to participate.

Beta testers will still need to have a mobile phone with active service. Those selected will be contacted over the next week to verify their shipping address and sign the testing agreement. Please note that if you are selected, you will need to keep your participation in this test very private. To apply, visit the Centercode beta callout.

It also requires you to use your network/internet access account. If you are not on an "all you can eat" plan this will jack up your access charges a lot.

This is not true. The device will not use your existing phone account. We only are requiring users to have an existing phone as part of a demographic

Centercode does this (sends out emails about betas) all the time -- yet I've never known anyone who was *actually* in any of their betas.

We require testers to not mention their involvement as part of the beta test agreement.

I've been in a few of their betas before. I've tested networking hardware, a handheld game console and some softwares.

Be for warned though, they don't treat there testers very well.
