Chinese President to Visit Gates Home

By Nate Mook, BetaNews

April 17, 2006, 12:19 PM

China's President Hu Jintao will be making a historic trip to the United States this week, but his host will not be U.S. President George Bush. Rather, Hu is traveling to Seattle, Washington to have dinner with Bill Gates in the Microsoft chairman's 66,000 square-foot house that overlooks Lake Washington.

President Hu will join a group of 100 dinner guests, including Washington state Governor Christine Gregoire and Starbucks chairman Howard Schultz. A key topic for the evening will be China's efforts to crackdown on software piracy, with three Chinese PC makers recently announcing plans to buy $400 million worth of Windows licenses over the next three years. Lenovo, China's largest computer manufacturer, will announce a similar deal on Monday.

I fail to see why calling people a "retard" or "commie" has anything to do with Technology or the topic above.

I bet you anything that in general, most people commenting here doesnt even nhave an officially licensed copy of any software they are using.

It is an easy strategy to call people 'Retards' or 'Commies' as an attempt to denigrate them. Facts are, as an earlier commentator stated, you don't become the leader of China by being a fool. Nor do you maintain the position of CEO of Microsoft through idiocy or extreme political partisanship. I don't live in the US, but did visit Seattle recently and liked it and the people I met there. I hope the meeting in Seattle works to bring about better dealings and understanding between the USA and China and that the leader of China recognises Americans as decent people living in a pleasant place. Facts are, whatever your views, the rest of the world is out there and if it is possible to find better ways of cooperating and dealing with each other, then we should.

china is dictatorship, do you know what it is like to live in a dictatorship / do you like it ???.
And let me remind you of few ex-dictators :-

Adolf Hitler
Benito Mussolini
Joseph Stalin
Saddam Hussein
Ahmed Sékou Touré
Milton Obote
Pol Pot
Kim Jong-il

America had cooperated with other dictatorship in the past and now we all know that these dealings turned out to be bad for everybody.

i am not against Chinese but cooperating with Chinese communist party.

i never said that bill/ rulers of chine are fool, i was just expressing my anger at the fact that Microsoft Google and Yahoo are cooperating with communists, all these things helps people suffocate under dictatorship.

in 21st century freedom to choose gov. should be everybody's right.

and again i will say that BILL IS A COMMIE.

I see very little relevance in your comments. No, I don't sanction dictatorships and I am fortunate to live in one of the world's better democracies and freer societies (Australia). I don't hate China, nor do I hate Communists even if I disagree with their philosophies. If I (or you) won't talk with them (or others we disagree with) the world will never improve. I don't know Bill's politics, but I would suggest he is an adherent to capitalism and not communism...

President of China to Bill Gates: "Psst.. Sorry about selling fake copies of your products..." *fake sobbing* + *make cute faces*

He then moves on to the next guest and says the same thing (with the sobbing and the cute faces).

He spends the whole evening doing the same thing to almost everybody in the room.

So the president of China is visiting the president of the computer world. No big surprise, considering the relationship between the US and China is pretty much based on business.

You know it's really sad when people use that word. Retard I mean.

There are people who are genuinely handicapped and you just insulted them, and hurt them.

As for the President of China, I'm sure that someone who can become president of a country as vast as China has his full faculties.

One more thing, China is the new world economy. They are going to stomp all over the western world within the next 50 to 75 years.

Looks good on you.

I've only just heard his name, but he's someone else I'd happily put six feet under. :-)

In where I live, Starbucks generously participates in charitable deeds - more than their competitors do. In fact, more than most companies do. And consistently so.

And no, I don't live in the US.

So please retract your statement.

Howard Schultz is a fine man and he runs a fine company which takes care of it's employees with good wages and benefits and takes care of it's neighborhoods both by opening stores in areas that no one else dreamed of putting anything nice and by making huge unpublicized chariatble donations through his personal foundation. He's featured tonight on CNBC's new show American Made at 8pm and he will be featured in a segment of CBS 60 Minutes later this month. I think if you actually did a little research you would find that he is what's good about America.

Ok.. there are a lot of things good about America. If Starbucks weren't trying to get everyone who buys their product addicted to caffeine, by making it way too strong, I might agree with you. I really like strong coffee, but even for me their stuff is undrinkable.

Starbucks primarily sells a European style of coffee that has been serving the world well for generations. Just because you were raised on Folgers doesn't make you an expert in coffee. One of the neat things about good coffee is that you can actually put more water in it to suit your taste. Starbucks is all about service. Ask them to water down your coffee and they will happily do so. Try drinking an Americano which is a shot or more of espresso with hot water. Another thing, the body of the coffee usually has little to do with the caffeine content. The truth is, the darker you roast a bean, the less caffeine it contains.

Here's a timely link to an AP story that might give you more insight into why Starbucks is such a sucessful company:

No one has really commented on how significant this really is. Microsoft/Gates has come to the conclusion that all the sanctions and rules and laws and copyrights and court cases are worth no more then the paper they are written on. Gates has bypassed the whole system and is going directly to the source of a communist government to solve a problem. It will be very interesting to see what comes out of this over time.

The Chinese President will be teleported directly from China into Gate's home by Microsoft's newest technology, code named "Speedy Gonzales Vista - XP". They will then be served dinner by Mr. Gates' cyborgs while watching a movie in 5-D.
