Google Considering Buying YouTube?

The rumor mill heated up with acquisition talks again on Friday, as reports began to surface that Google is in talks with popular video site YouTube. Sources told the Wall Street Journal that Google could pay around $1.6 billion for the startup.

Speculation surrounding YouTube's future is nothing new. The company has been bleeding money as it struggles to find a sustainable revenue model to cover its massive bandwidth costs, and an entrenched suitor like Yahoo or Google could give it a way out. However, copyright infringement issues could stall any buyout, as much of YouTube's content has been uploaded without permission.

you tube is a world wide video blog and google is seen as sniches and evil by those who live in countries that are oppressive to freedom of expression and information, so less people would probly feel safe video blogging there and the quallity will not be as good if google buys it.

I dont think Youtube would be as good...prob no content because Im sure they would monitor what gets on there a lil more than they do now

Rubbish in, Rubbish out. What in the name of God, is so special about YouTube?

If you really enjoy watching endless bad videos of imbeciles playing the guitar solos from their favorite metal tracks maybe. Otherwise as the guy said, only a moron would consider buying this copyright infringement nightmare.

I have my doubts. Google usually makes purchases to enter a new market or technology easily, not just to buy traffic.

Sure it would, every so often you'd get a different looking 'youTube' logo. =P

and probebly an intergrated search system between YouTube and Google.. Not mention GoogleVideo and Youtube would be one and the same.
