Google Looking to Move into TV?

Google is showing an interest in moving into yet another form of media: television. A job posting that first appeared on Wednesday seeks a product manager for a service dubbed "GoogleTV." According to the listing, the candidate would be expected to study trends in television viewing and see where the search engine's technologies could further enhance that experience.

The posting seems to indicate that while Google is unlikely readying a television channel, GoogleTV could possibly be an extension of Google's prototype search that scours the closed captioning text of television shows. Results are displayed with a still image of the video, along with snippets of text that contain the search terms.

Google OS?
Google Office?
Google Browser?
Google Music?

It will be interesting if any of this vaporware ever sees the light of day.

I suppose it matters not. Schmidt, Page and Brin are selling so much stock that they'll never have to worry about money again.

But with the choice coming soon will the user pick googleTV and YahooTV over MPAA/RIAA controled companies?? Maybe they will just shut down google and yahoo TV like P2P?

Or will the MPAA/RIAA strong arm google and yahoo to join them??

Couldn't really care who controls it so long as I have basic search functionality in television and movie scripts.

Haven't used MSN in ages as far as search goes, but I'm sure it'd be at least adequate for script searches.

The ability to, in effect, search scripts for your favorite shows would absolutely rock.

Google needs to calm down some.

They are trying to do everything at once.

I am really starting to hate them. I don't want their hand in everything. They are big brother enough as it is.

name one thing Google has done that's a violation of your privacy/security/etc that they are not exteremely upfront about int he first-place.

And none of this "they have your email" bs... Prove they've done something with it that constitutes ill-will.

Every post you've made about google is nothing but flames. You have yet to give one damn reason other than "they're too big".

Being big is *not* a bad thing.

Firefox w/Googlebar for SuSE(or any other distro of linux) is the best setup to have: it is impossible to crash and it works great.
