Google to Acquire Feedburner for $100 Million

Sources say Google and Feedburner have agreed to a deal where the Mountain View, Calif. company would pay cash for the company, with the deal closing within two to three weeks. However, neither company had responded to requests for comment on the deal as of press time.

Feedburner provides RSS management services for blogs and websites, and has seen tremendous growth in the past several months. Such an acquisition would fit nicely with Blogger, the web log service Google acquired in early 2003. Details of the deal were first reported by technology web log TechCrunch on Wednesday.

Slow down please.

if google too much buy somtheing, someday it can become another Bubble which will become another disaster.

Ok... I normally bite my tongue on these things, but seriously... three posts in a row.

You guys are not the first people to have this thought. You're just too ignorant to see the hundreds of explanations for why it's not that simple.

Google can't get away with anything or be worshiped for the same reason MS is hated. You just can't imagine that a situation could have more than one variable.

Please, please... just stick with your AOL service.

Ok. On topic now: Feedburner is a cool service. I've actually been using it for a little more than a year for my blog. Ironically, though, I just converted my blog to wordpress hosted on my own machine instead of using Google's blogger service. I'm also going to do my own alert e-mails for new posts.

Sorry, Google. I'm moving away for this. I still love your Gmail service though!

When will people stop liking Google? I guess when they're no longer the underdog. You could say that they are besting Microsoft regularly, but as the most recent earnings reports indicate (and as Leo Laporte likes to point out), MS makes more money maintaining the status quo than Google does. Of course, as long as Google keeps growing and innovating and MS stands still... well, soon, Google will be the one maintaining the status quo and someone else will come along to challenge the leader.

a few more acquisitions and they will tie with Microsoft.
Only difference is people will still lick their testicles, while they hate on Microsoft for the same reason.
