HP to Ship Linux PCs in Latin America

Computer maker Hewlett-Packard plans to sell PCs running Linux across 37 countries in Latin America, and has selected Mandriva to provide the open source operating system. Mandriva says it will work with HP on sales, support and marketing in all Latin American territories, including Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.

The first HP systems running Mandriva Linux 2006 have already begun to ship in Brazil, the companies said. While Linux has struggled to gain a foothold in North America and Europe, the low-cost operating system has proven popular in developing nations where such technology is not available to most citizens. Technical support will be offered in both Spanish and Portuguese.

What are they going to bundle with it. Besides a browser and mail client, what are they going to do with the new HP boxes they have.

That first call Support gets from the user that the game will not load......

I'd have chosen Ubuntu instead of Mandriva, but Linux on the desktop is a great thing! It resides on my desktop.

that isint even unique, just a copy!
downloading a copy is more honest, then companys ripping you off for someting that dosent cost them s***. shure it costs to develop, but money can be raised by donations and services aswell. anyway no software should cost money for private use, since the user isint earning money by using it, charging companys license fees is something i understand though.

Yea, im at a HIGHer level than you mortals, i see things the way they are, you are stuck in a reality created by aliens, so that they can harvest your body heat to give them selves energy, in reality you are just in a tube conected into virtual reality, while i have the option of leaving, to fight the aliens and live free of this fake world.
