Microsoft Issues Workaround for IE Flaw

By Ed Oswald, BetaNews

Microsoft earlier this week issued a downloadable fix for a flaw in Internet Explorer that could cause the browser to exit and execute code, however the update simply provides a workaround for the problem. The bug lies in the javaprxy.dll COM object, and the download will disable it until Microsoft does further research.

Microsoft says it has received no reports of attacks that have exploited the vulnerability, but will provide further guidance in the near future. As part of the advisory, Microsoft continued to urge caution when clicking on links within e-mails.

The best workaround for any IE flaw, and works everytime:

Three words - Use another browser.

Your server hardware apparently is unable to keep up with the volume of traffic trying to use your site. None of the links above will open for me, not even after long waits. You should not offer these services if you cannot have hardware sufficient to support them.

Seems the bad news just keeps pouring forth for Internet Explorer, one severe security hole after another. I won't touch the damn thing with a ten foot pole. Firefox with NoScript plugin is as secure as it gets.

Yes, I just tried to hack into your computer using that exploit found in IE, and was unsuccessful. So it's good for you that you've decided not to use IE...
