Motorola Debuts Good Mobile Messaging 5

Motorola said Monday it had released Good Mobile Messaging 5, the first new version of the software since its acquisition of the company in November of last year.

Among the enhancements in the latest version of the product are enhancements to improve ease of use, increased personalization, and better security, which includes security functionality previously available separately through another Good product.

"With Good 5, we've successfully bridged the divide by giving end users the usability and personalization they want, while arming IT with even more manageability and security," Good product management and marketing direct Rick Osterloh said.

Ease of use enhancements include a complete calendaring solution and the ability to edit and then send documents within e-mails send through the product. Users can group emails by either thread and/or sender.

New personalization functions include an RSS reader, the ability to set rules to mark certain messages as 'priority e-mail' based on certain criteria, and the ability to also set notifications for those e-mails.

Good now gives IT administrators better control over devices using the platform over the network, including features and applications that they may opt in and out of using, as well as encryption and load-balancing functions.

The software will be available in September through a variety of distribution points.
