Proprietary, inflexible, unattractive. I modded my old Crapintosh once...with a sledgehammer. Same reason why I won't get an iPod. Why support a company that doesn't listen to it's customers? Customers wanted a decent/friendly OS that could be upgraded and was easily accessible. They told other PC manuf. to shove off, that Apple would only put it's OS on it's computers. Manufacturers looked elsewhere, in comes Bill Gates. (Not that I am a huge proponent of Windows either...it just got marketed better) In comes the iPod. Users are really desiring a sleek and easy-to-use media device with good storage, USB, good battery life, and customizable. iPod was it...until they realized they were stuck with iTunes. Oh no, what ever shall we (the innocent consumer) do? Oh, let's create an open-source app to allow us to upload/download from iPod without having to deal with iTunes. Why would we want to do that? Because we never wanted DRM or proprietary software to be a requirement to use with the $300 media device we just purchased with our hard-earned money. Oh, so I have to use the latest software with my iPod to get more music...sure. Oh no, I'm locked into using iTunes again. Well, back to the open-source route..... And on and on it goes. Apple is interested in money and locking their customers into using their product. Apple, why can't you learn from Gates? Release your OS, iPod, and business model. You might actually survive this PC war.
