Panasonic's new Lumix camera works with T-Mobile hotspots

Want to upload photos from a T-Mobile Wi-Fi Hotspot at the airport, your hotel, or Starbucks? Then at CES, Panasonic has announced a digital camera for you.

It seems like T-Mobile WiFi HotSpots are just about everywhere these days, whether it's Starbucks, your local bookstore, or the airport or hotel. At CES this week, Panasonic rolled out a Lumix camera that will let you send photos wirelessly from any of these hotspots to Google's Picasa Web Albums photo sharing service.

The new Lumix camera is also designed to answer the question of whether photos sent wirelessly ever made it to their destination. After all, as many people have found out the hard way, that hasn't always been the case.

After uploading your images from the new Lumix, you get an e-mail back containing a URL link to the photos, which can also be shared online with friends and family.

Also, if you want to make room on the camera for more photos, you can feel comfortable about deleting the ones you've already sent, after checking the Picasa site to make sure they're up there online.

The new Lumix cameras come with a complementary 12-month subscription to T-Mobile Hotspot.

According to officials, Panasonic worked closely with T-Mobile on developing the bundle and used Google's open APIs to integrate the Lumix camera with Picasa.

All told, T-Mobile runs public HotSpots at more than 8,500 locations in the US, at places that include many Starbucks coffee shops, Borders stores, and Hyatt Hotels, as well as about 70 major airports.
