Reports from iPhone users that MMS rollout has begun

Many iPhone users today are reporting that they can now send and receive MMS messages, as AT&T promised to do by September 25 through software a software update.

While a lot of users now have MMS, for every single one who has confirmed his functionality upgrade on Twitter, there are five more asking how they check if they have it, what they have to do to get it, and what areas so far have gotten the update.

"Do you have to upgrade to the latest firmware to uses SMS?" wrote one user.

"How do you know when the MMS fairy lands in your neck of the woods?" wrote another.

Countless others are pinging around asking their friends if they've gotten the update.

MMS requires the iPhone 3.1 software update, and you can check to see if you've received the functionality by going to Settings > General > Network. If there is a sub-heading for "Cellular Data Network," that means that MMS is available. Also, a much more simple way to know if you have MMS is if a camera icon is now included within the Messaging app.

As for the locations where MMS has been activated, there is no official word on areas included in the earliest rollout. So far, We've found tweets from all over the United States: Fresno, Calif.; Newport News, Va.; Canton, Ohio; Houston, Texas; Lawrence, Kansas; and Denver, Colo., to name just a few.

We invite you to update us with your location if you've received MMS functionality today.
