Verizon Wireless to Launch TV Services

Verizon Wireless is set to launch its mobile television service on Thursday, according to both the company's Web site and mobile news site RCRWirelessNews.com. The service will be called VCAST Mobile TV and will be available in "select markets" at launch. Qualcomm's MediaFLO technology will power the network, which will be available on two handsets, the Samsung SCH-u620 and LG VX9400.

In announcing the service last month, Verizon Wireless indicated that content would be available from CBS, Comedy Central, NBC, and MTV, among others. The nation's second largest wireless network is not the only one to use Qualcomm's mobile television technology: Cingular announced recently that it also would offer TV services later this year.

After tearing my neighborhood apart and running 8 months over deadline and over budget, they finally finished laying FiOS here. I'll skip over the broken power lines, phone and cable lines, state fines, repeat digs and inspections, oh yeah, and the crew that spoke no English at all. So they recently hung pamphlets on our doors for FiOS service. So I called. The service lacks what my Cox service provides and costs more. Everyone in my neighborhood is of the opinion it is starting off as a complete failure. I sure hope they can breath more life into it soon. Otherwise, we're stuck on Cox for ever. There is no other alternative at present for us.

Grrrrrreat! more waste of wireless bandwidth. As if the television spectrum isn't full with enough crap nowadays.. Now they got to push it over the cellular networks... More jewish-zionist BS crap to rot the brain.. It's bad enough to have people yapping on their phones while driving, now they will be watching the lowest grade of entertainment as well on their cellphones..
