Microsoft has launched its next generation Pocket PC software platform, now dubbed Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PCs. The new release features enhanced wireless networking with native Bluetooth support, and improved security. Mobile entertainment has also been given a boost, as Windows Mobile 2003 supports Windows Media 9 Series audio and video, along with digital photo viewing.
"Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs creates new opportunities for hardware, software and wireless companies to partner and deliver innovative solutions to help improve the way people work and live," said Juha Christensen, Microsoft corporate vice president for the Mobile Devices Division.
"By improving the core elements of Windows Mobile software, Microsoft has enabled customers to take advantage of software features that are wireless-ready and easy to use, and to connect with people and information with a broader range of new device hardware -- and at attractive prices."
Gateway and JVC will introduce new devices based on the platform later this year, joining Dell, Toshiba, ViewSonic and other manufacturers that will soon ship Pocket PCs running Windows Mobile 2003 software. Microsoft also released a software development kit for the new Windows Mobile platform.
Hey all, Microsoft's web site states all the new released features in the new Pocket PC 2003 Edition. However the question is, will there be bluetooth "headset" and voice dialing support. If anyone from Redmond can say the answer, please let me know.
Thanks =)

|from their website...
Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC now has Bluetooth support* making it simple to link your Pocket PC and other Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices. For example, if you have a Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone, you can now use it as a modem for your Pocket PC to access the Internet. You can also beam data such as contacts or pictures to other Bluetooth-enabled devices.

|The bluetooth "headset" Example (the Sony HBH-30) is different then just having a bluetooth air card on your laptop to tranfer files at a pathetic 1mb. Bluetooth "headsets" require specific instructions to run on a phone enabled with bluetooth. So the question is will Pocket PC 2003 phone edition support a "bluetooth headset" and or voice dialing.

|interesting...
(sorry first time hearing the word bluetooth headset)
Does it allow a faster transfer using some different method or is it just specifically made for phones so it can have a smoother.. or I don't know, better transfer?

|BSF, a "bluetooth headset" is nothing only but a wireless headset for your cell phone. It interacts with the phone by dialing it, answering in coming calls and can preform voice dialing with a compadable cel phone, like the Sony Ericsson T68I
Please notice in my previous posts the SUBJECT=Pocket PC 2003 Phone Edition not Mobile
