RSSWindows Mobile 6.0 and 6.1 will get Marketplace, too

It's wonderful news for the Windows Mobile family as a whole, but yet another kick in the gut for Windows Mobile 6.5.
Microsoft's App Marketplace looked like one of the few reasons for Windows Mobile 6.1 users to look forward to the 6.5 OS update. Now, however, those millions of WM6 and WM6.1 users will be provided access to the app store by the end of 2009 as well, according to a Windows Mobile Team announcement today.
Windows Mobile 6.5 will at least be granted first access to the Marketplace when it launches in the Fall.
Prior to the launch, registered Windows Mobile Marketplace developers will be able to submit their creations on July 27.
Though Apple today just announced that its own iTunes App Store just passed 1.5 billion downloads (netting 500 million downloads in just three months), that particular app store has never exactly pandered to those with a need for productivity apps.
Wisely, this is where the Windows Mobile Marketplace will step up, according to team member Todd Brix in today's blog post. Windows Mobile Marketplace Business Center will be an app store specifically for business apps, where developers can be sure their product will be seen by the many enterprise users in possession of a Windows Mobile device.

|IMHO the Docs-To-Go etc apps that came free on my Qc9c seem pretty good for everyday use. Who needs MeSs Office Mobil? Google docs also works well on my phone. I'm a poor Mac guy who had to settle because of price. Not sure what's available for iPhone, but + have heard their biggest selling app is a fart simulator! I wast one for winmo!!

|Did you do reasearch before writing this article..Like anything at all. Maybe look at some 6.5 screenshots maybe? Maybe? No obviously not. I am running 6.5 right this moment and let me tell you do some real research then go back and rewrite this article cause there and plenty of reasons to upgrade. First and foremost is a semi redisgned UI that is a lot more finger friendly. Its not totally there yet but that is what WM7 is for. And for the ninie that said MS is copying apple I realize your probably ten cause if you were older youd know most of what apple has done is just copying other companies. App store. one word handango and they have been doing it a lot longer than apple. iPod-Copyd OSX- not really even thier OS just a gui. Apple TV- MS already there its called Media center. And wait they are also coming out with this "NEW" thing called a "netbook" no one else has done that yet right. Apple doesnt bake any cakes they just put some icing on them. I realize that might be a tough annolgy for a mac user but think for a change and you will get it. Be a PC think for yourself instead of drinking the cuppertino kool aid. Cause right now your just a parrot.

|I am running 6.5 on a Samsung Omnia i910, I've tried it with the Spb Shell and the Titanium interface which looks like the zune interface which from the screenshots of 6.5 looks like the default interface but has a 4x4 honeycomb menu which sucks as its less finger friendly then the 3 hexagons IMO.
Since this is a cooked rom a real build with hardware made for it should be pretty damn good considering these cooked roms are almost perfect but do have a glitch here and there but infinitely better then 6.1, YMMV though.

I answered windows mobile market which has been in existence for quite some time and you could always install apps from the phone as well but again it was not a dedicated button

|Fatty no point in arguing with you. I have news for you though you are what we internet users refer to as a fanboy. Sad but true. I'll let you in on another secret....Your just bitter cause you cant get away from the PC or windows mobile for that matter. Its all around you and you dont even know it. Like for instance the registers at all the Apple stores. They all run windows. Even apple knows their toyware cant do as much as the mighty Windows. Why you ask? Cause the nitty gritty truth is more people like windows over mac. Like 90% more. This choice was made years ago when you were in diapers. Even in China where they pirate most of there software. They pirate windows not mac. Cause mac stinks. Dont even bother trying to say its cause mac only runs on mac hardware either cause macs are just PC's now. Another perfect example of Mac copying the PC. PC has always run on intel. Mac used powerPC and then went wait PC is better cause they use intel. We should get that too. People that use mas generally need to feel special. Look at me with my girlie white phone isnt it nice. Macs are style windows is utility...Styles fade into the night utility has staying power. Also last time Apple went toe to toe with MS it took 20 years to recover. As shown by the MS commercials Apple has awakened its sleeping nemesis. Once this next beat down occurs I dont know if apple will ever recover.
