i2Hub P2P Network Shuts Down

A peer-to-peer network that took advantage of the super-fast speeds of the Internet2 research network closed it doors late Monday. Founder of the i2Hub network Wayne Chang has declined comment citing legal reasons, and the blank front page of the network's Web site now carries the message "R.I.P. 11.14.2005."

The service was one of several networks to receive a cease and desist letter from the RIAA in September. Lawsuits have already been filed against several file swappers on the network. The shuttering of i2Hub follows a Supreme Court ruling that made P2P networks liable for the actions of their users, and the closing of Grokster last week.

I am so sick of hearing about all of this.
don't buy music, i don't pirate music, i just don't listen to it. I wish i could sue RIAA for making me hear the crap on TV, and the radio or a number of places .. assualted by unwanted nonsense they call music.
The only way to fight this and it's future ramifications is to make music a dead indusrty. Stop listening!!

buyig a CD or useing a music service is terrorism against the people of the USA and there basic rights. By empowering corporations to make/adjust/lobby laws tha are conter productive to society as a whole.

I refuse to buy CDs now. Either P2P or online music sites (MSN, Apple, etc) will provide me with what I want :P

umm, if you are using online music sites to boycott the riaa, it doesn't work like that. You'd be better off buying used cds.

So let me get this straight. The P2P users AND the P2P network are both responsible for the users' actions? Wow!
I must admit, that I will not completely stop buying music put out by the RIAA, but I have considerably cut down on it. I used to buy at least a cd every month, now i don't, and when I do buy a cd, it usually doesn't belong to RIAA, according to http://www.riaaradar.com (http://www.magnetbox.com/riaa/)

Yes. The Supreme Court of the US decided in a UNANIMOUS 9-0 decision--the left and the right. Ask them--er, the 7 that are still there :)

It doesn't suprise me either. Morons tell us that Smith & Wesson is responsible for the acts of criminals who use guns. At the same time, these arms dealers aren't allowed to have retail stores and sell firearms directly to the public at all.

Somebody applied this warped thinking to the P2P softwares. Corrupt politicians continue to TAX and allow cigarettes to be sold legally. Big Brother wants $$$$$. Then, they complain about greedy corporations giving people cancer. These are just more examples of the ridiculous laws in some parts of the USA. Consider the source...
